Rafal Czyzewski joins Greenway Infrastructure Poland as CEO

Former CEO of Energa-Operator brings customer focus to growing team building Poland’s first comprehensive public, electric vehicle charging network

Warsaw – Greenway Poland is proud to announce the appointment of our new CEO, Mr. Rafal Czyzewski. Mr. Czyzewski will be responsible for providing strategic direction, investor relations, ensuring customer satisfaction, representing the company in public and overall management of the company as it builds the first comprehensive network of publicly available electric vehicle fast charging stations in Poland.

Mr. Czyzewski brings significant experience in senior level management in the energy industry in Poland. He previously served for five years as the President and CEO of Energa-Operator SA, a distribution system operator of electric grids with over 1 billion Euro annual turnover and 6,000 employees, serving 3 million customers.  He now joins Greenway full time, after serving as an advisor for the company as it launched in Poland in 2016.

“I am very excited to take on this new challenge and become a member of Polish team,” said Mr. Czyzewski, “Poland is just starting to develop electric mobility in many aspects. What Greenway is doing will undoubtedly have a large impact on the progress in this area. The infrastructure we construct will connect us with our neighbors to the North and West, and also begin to address some of the air pollution we have, which is caused by transportation. This is a game changing project and I’m proud to take on a deeper level of involvement as CEO.”

Greenway is building the first comprehensive network of publicly available electric vehicle fast charging stations in Poland. This network will enable drivers to travel with electric vehicles all throughout the country, including to and from neighboring countries, which already have lots of electric vehicles. Greenway plans to build its first 75 charging stations by March 2018.

“I am very pleased to announce our cooperation with Rafal,” said Peter Badik, co-founder and managing partner of Greenway Infrastructure, “He brings extensive senior level management experience, a track record of success, and a focus on excellent customer experience. His willingness to innovate, knowledge of the Polish energy industry and desire to improve the environmental conditions in Poland are also characteristics we highly value. This strengthening of our Polish team reflects our commitment to fully developing the Polish network, as we have done in Slovakia, and a major step forward in providing comprehensive services in the CEE region. We look forward to the growth and success of the Polish electromobility ecosystem in the years to come, with Greenway under Rafal’s leadership as an important part of it.”

The first charging station in the Greenway network was installed in Galeria Mokotow in Warsaw in December 2016. Negotiations are underway with other property managers throughout Poland to license locations for further public fast charging stations.

Air pollution, caused by a number of sources including diesel vehicles, is a significant problem in Poland, killing 38,000 people prematurely each year, according to the European Environment Agency. Electric vehicles produce no tailpipe emissions, do not spew harmful pollutants into the air and do not emit CO2, the leading source of global climate change.

Greenway Infrastructure is dedicated to making the use of electric vehicles the realistic and preferred transportation option for all people in Central and Eastern Europe and to becoming a leader in providing charging services in this region.  Greenway also envisions a world where intelligent and interconnected networks of charging facilities and electric vehicles integrate into a New Energy System based on renewables, distributed prosumers, smart grid and energy storage applications.
